Get an overview of the powerful new features created to help you improve productivity by working smarter, faster, and together with industry-leading product development tools.

Enhance your 3D CAD capabilities by connecting your design processes to the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform for access to powerful tools across the entire product development lifecycle, including data management, collaboration, advanced simulation, manufacturing, and production.

New Top 10 Features

User Experience

As a SOLIDWORKS® user you expect the best out of your software when it comes to customizability, performance, and working with others. SOLIDWORKS 2023 significantly improves the user experience. Comments have been completely overhauled so that users can communicate their ideas fully, right inside of the SOLIDWORKS user interface. Customizing the user interface is one of the most powerful aspects of SOLIDWORKS, and getting back to the default settings is easier than ever now that each tab features a "Reset to Defaults" button. For those customers that share a pool of licenses, you now have more flexibility in which licenses you check out. Also, term licenses better notify the user to take action before the license needs to be renewed. The Render System, which was introduced a few years ago to improve performance of large assemblies, is now even more stable allowing users to keep this highly advantageous performance tool enabled at all times.

Parts and Features

SOLIDWORKS® is the most feature rich CAD solution available, but that doesn't mean significant improvements can't still be made. SOLIDWORKS 2023 expands the capabilities of existing features to make you more productive. Users can automatically apply construction geometry to sketched ellipses making them easier to define. Need to move or copy a body? You can now apply equations to the translate or rotate fields and even specify configurations. The Wrap feature is now more complete as it allows the use of stick fonts when scribing. The Defeature command no longer requires the user to create a new part file, as the simplified representation can be stored as a configuration.

Shape Design with 3D Sculptor

Products today have more style and complexity than ever, but turning design ideas and concepts into functional CAD models can be difficult with traditional modeling tools. See how the powerful subdivision modeling capabilities of 3D Sculptor help you complete your design work quickly and easily, on any connected device. 3D Sculptor is built around the xShape modeling application, which takes a simpler, freeform approach that unlocks endless design possibilities.

Cloud CAD with 3D Creator

3D Creator includes the design, manufacturing and collaboration capabilities of xDesign. You can use powerful, browser-based parametric modeling tools to create production-ready parts and assemblies from any connected device. With the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform, your teammates are always updated on your progress — no emails required. Grow your digital toolbox, and take it with you wherever you go, with 3D Creator.

Sheet Metal and Structures

SOLIDWORKS® Structure Systems and Sheet Metal have new enhancements in 2023 that enable smoother design-to-manufacturing workflows and speed up tedious tasks. Structure Systems now includes the ability to identify all similar corners in your structure, and apply the same trimming criteria to all of them in one command. Connection elements like gussets or base plates can also be patterned to similar corners, saving tons of time in the your workflow. Designing Sheet Metal parts for manufacturing has never been easier with new enhancements that every shop floor operator will enjoy. Sketched base flange parts can now be thickened symmetrically about the sketch, making identical upward and downward bends easier than ever. There are also a whole new set of Sheet Metal sensors, which will dynamically alert you if the flat pattern bounding box falls outside of defined constraints.

Assemblies

New capabilities in assembly design for SOLIDWORKS® 2023 bring much anticipated user enhancements to your fingertips. Configurations include an array of added capabilities, such as instances to skip for most pattern types, default bill of materials ID management per configuration, and configurable magnetic mates for streamlining assembly layouts. Replacing components has never been easier. SOLIDWORKS 2023 introduces a new instances to replace option and a new preview window. You will be delighted with an automated approach to repairing broken mates, which can be done with a single click. Most notably in SOLIDWORKS 2023, you will have the option to completely automate between resolved and lightweight modes, letting SOLIDWORKS decide the best options for increased performance.

Drawings

Enhancements to Drawings help you detail your designs faster with improved workflows and time saving automation. Open sub-component drawings from within an assembly drawing. Highlight and restore any Bill of Material cells that have been manually overridden. Display quantity callouts when inserting Auto Balloons. Apply filters to create custom BOM table layouts. See through transparent components in HLR drawings for improved visualization.

Routing

Routing electrical systems in 3D is fast and efficient in SOLIDWORKS® 2023. Improvements to electrical attributes and a new way to visualize wire bundle cross sections makes for more accurate calculations of wire size and mass. Creating flattened harness drawings is more automated, reducing activities that previously required manual editing and cleanup. Multi-circuit splices are now supported, which enables more realistic representation of real world wiring scenarios.

SOLIDWORKS Visualize

Envision your products in high-definition like never before with SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2023. Achieve stunning visuals with less effort thanks to streamlined import options, expanded color management capabilities, and an all-new rendering engine. See how these new features can convert your lifeless CAD model into engaging visuals faster than ever before. Capture the attention of your audience with Visualize 2023.

SOLIDWORKS PDM

PDM Professional 2023 once again raises the bar for usability, performance, and security. New data card capabilities ensure clarity and accuracy when entering and accessing property information. Notification templates can be edited by administrators with a built in HTML editor to reflect company preferences and branding. Overall user administration is easier with the ability to re-add deleted users, revoke login access of multiple users at a time, and easily compare group inherited permissions. Common archive server activities like adding, removing, & transitioning files will see significant performance improvements in higher latency environments. And, traffic between the client and archive server is now encrypted.
